We're finally going to have a headboard for our bed!
I've gone through a million different wants in the past two years of marriage as far as a headboard goes, and most of them ended up getting ruled out for various reasons:
-cloth covered headboard! Nah, hard to dust...
-Headboard with shelves! Nah, my pillow would slide back into it...
-scroll-y railing headboard! Nope, not comfortable to lean against when reading in bed...
And then, I saw THIS:
Genius! A door. A little bit of crown molding. Some paint. New Headboard!
Easy to dust? Check.
No pillow slide-age? Check.
Comfortable to lean against? Check.
So, after scouting Freecycle, and the free postings on Craigslist and KSL for weeks, I hit the jackpot!
Doors! With even panels! Solid wood so I can sand them and stain them to match the color of our dresser and nightstand! Really, I'll just be using the larger door for our headboard...still deciding on the smaller door exactly where I want it to go...Headboard in the guest room? Window seat bench?
NOW...I just have to find the time in our busy life to sand them and stain them...
Meanwhile, I've been working on actually decorating our house for the holidays (the most relevant being Halloween) but I'm not that into spooky, witchy, black crafts...So, fall decor it is! I started with a wreath. I found my inspiration in this wreath (which I can't for the life of me find a link to the original site...sorry!)
...and in THIS wreath at Craftaholics Anonymous.
But I wanted to be able to hang mine up past October since I was a little late in getting it up anyway...
So, I came up with this:
It's even easier and cheaper than you think...None of my fabric is actually burlap. My wreath frame is a bunch of sticks from a bushy tree in my backyard, tied together with twisty ties and a little string...My wreath hanger was hastily acquired at Dollar Tree...
And all together, it makes me happy...
