Toddler Romper Upcycle

I love freecycle...and getting free stuff that somebody doesn't want anymore...but sometimes you go to pick it up and realize it's just junk...

I got a batch of baby clothes like that recently, and they were honestly so ugly that I didn't even want to give them to DI, for fear that I'd see someone's kid actually wearing them someday in the future...Most of them were out of fabric so worn and hideous that it wasn't even worth cutting up for my 9-patch quilt.

In this pile of baby clothes though, was a neon green romper...romp, romp, romp...with little yellow and white flowers all over it...

A word on rompers...I think most of them are gross.  There are much cuter things to dress your child in. But the bubble rompers are the worst...and the very worst are the bubble rompers that are shorts...

Neon green, sleeveless, shorts, bubble romper...need I say more?

Somehow though, I couldn't bring myself to throw it out...I had to be able to use that fabric for something.

And yesterday, it came to me...So I clipped and trimmed and removed the bubble part and the romper part and added some gathered sleeves...

And I love it!  And this little girl's hair...

P.S. Hoping to get some sewing for baby #2 done soon, but right now, she's growing too fast for me to give up my nap time to make something she'll wear once...

P.P.S. I know! I know! I'm working on my picture taking skills, but B was ready for a nap...
