Date Night: Thai Food

For date night this past week, we decided we wanted to try something we'd never tried before, and since there is a Thai restaurant every couple of blocks here, we picked Thai food!

It was going to be another date at home, and we didn't just want to pick up food and eat it at home, so we decided to create the perfect environment in which to eat it.

In my head I had this picture (I think from a movie) of an eastern restaurant with individual booths draped with brocade and low, cushioned seating.  Kind of a mix of these pictures:

So we got all sorts of blankets and fabrics and drapes and whipped up our own little booth on the back deck.

We probably had just as much fun making this little tent as eating in it.

I sent my husband to grab the food:

And we dug in!

The potstickers were good, but other than that, I wasn't actually that impressed with Thai food. It could have been the dish we got or the restaurant we got it from, so we're open to suggestions and trying it again sometime!

We got their fried ice cream...

...and it was a lot like a chunk of ice cream fried inside a hamburger bun (minus the sesame seeds).  We'd never tried fried ice cream before either, but are determined to have it somewhere else where it may be delicious...

We had fun just sitting in our private, curtained booth though, talking and laughing, especially at the whispered comments from our neighbors as they came out on their adjoining deck and saw our little blanket booth.

Oh well, they are moving in two weeks anyway!

Happy dating!
