A bolero jacket would be just the thing. Especially since it would be quick to whip up!
I started with the onesie itself and traced the shoulders and arm holes and halfway down the chest. I drew it on two different sections of my paper, one for the front and one for the back.
In the front, I made the bottom edge curve out and added an extra 3/8 inch for my seam-
In the back, I made it to be cut along a fold and gave the same seam allowance-
I then decided that I wanted the jacket to have raglan sleeves, so I drew a slant down my pattern to work with instead-
I drew the sleeve slant the same length and angle as the front/back slants, and drew the top of the sleeve straight out from the shoulder.
Cut out my pieces-
Sewed all the slants together-
Hemmed the sleeves using elastic thread-
Sewed the arm and the side in one long seam-
Almost done! I measured all the way around the edge that was still raw. Multiplied that length by 1.5 and added an inch for seam allowance. Cut a 1 inch wide strip that length and sewed it as a loop. Hemmed it, gathered it and attached it to the jacket, and I had a ruffled edge!
I put it with the rest of the outfit and it was perfect!
